The Children’s Cabinet Tag

We had an incredible evening at one of our favorite annual events, The Children’s Cabinet Art of Childhood! The night was filled with delicious food, great company, and the excitement of both silent and live auctions. Our team was thrilled to see the Grocery Market playhouse, crafted by United Construction, raise an impressive $4,250 at the auction!

This event holds a special place in our hearts, as it directly supports The Children’s Cabinet’s vital mission of keeping children safe and families together. The generosity of everyone involved helped raise a total of $947,500, making a significant impact on the lives of those in our community.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, participated, and made this evening a huge success! Your support truly makes a difference. We also want to express our sincere gratitude to the United Construction team members who helped with the playhouse, including Chris Bennett, Leman Jones, Amanda Kneisel, Shelby Cox, Ariel Mooney, Jeremiah Bergara, Mark Duran, Mark Davis, Van Amsden, Marshal Hoffman, and Gladiss Hernandez. Your efforts are deeply appreciated!

Join us in celebrating The Children’s Cabinet’s 25th Annual Art of Childhood Fundraising Gala held at the stunning Rancharrah! All funds raised during the event support the organization’s mission to keep children safe and families together, and a special Fund-A-Need appeal directly supports The Children’s Cabinet’s free family counseling program. Throughout the night, guests indulged in delectable food and beverages while getting swept away by the excitement of incredible live and silent auction packages. A charming Barn-style playhouse, designed and built by United Construction, fetched $2,400 during the auction, with all proceeds benefiting The Children’s Cabinet. Did you know that annually, The Children’s Cabinet touches the lives of over 10,000 families in Nevada? From providing basic necessities and childcare resources to educational opportunities, work experience programs, crisis intervention, and family counseling – they are here to help children and families in our community every step of the way.

We loved seeing the kids smile and their eyes light up with excitement as they ran to play in their new English Cottage-style playhouse! Thank you to our UCC team for their hard work designing, building and delivering the playhouse yesterday to its new home, and a huge thank you to Shannon Keel from Grand Sierra Resort for winning the playhouse at the auction at the Children’s Cabinet Art of Childhood Gala and generously donating it to the Summit Church. Many kids will enjoy this for years to come!

Today, November 30, is Giving Tuesday in the United States. This commemorative day happens every year on the Tuesday directly after Thanksgiving. As a company, United Construction proudly supports a local nonprofit with a mission to keep children safe and families together: The Children’s Cabinet. We have signed on to be social media ambassadors for The Children’s Cabinet, supporting their Giving Tuesday goals on our company Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter pages. In addition, our very own CEO Michael Russell has served on the Board of Directors of the organization for more than a decade.

Even the smallest donation can help a family in need, and 95 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to programs! We encourage you to donate today at: https://www.childrenscabinet.org/donate/

Several of our Reno team members had a wonderful time celebrating The Children’s Cabinet at the Art of Childhood fundraising gala, which took place at The Club at Rancharrah on Friday, August 20. The Children’s Cabinet is heavily intertwined in our culture at United Construction, with Michael Dermody founding the nonprofit in the 1980s and Michael Russell sitting on the Board of Trustees for over a decade. We love to support such a vital organization for children and families in our community, and we were honored to be a Bronze Sponsor. The Children’s Cabinet was able to raise $517,000 at the event alone!

Please enjoy these photos of the event, including a photo of our handcrafted rocket ship playhouse sitting on display for the live auction.

Happy National Children’s Day! On this day, we are proud to celebrate The Children’s Cabinet, a Reno-based nonprofit that provides services that address the unmet needs of children and families in our community. The organization assists more than 11,000 families in Northern Nevada every year with a multitude of no-cost resources, ranging from child care and education to family counseling and crisis intervention.

Co-founded by Dermody Properties Board Chair Michael Dermody, we are honored that our very own CEO Michael Russell has served on the Board of Directors of The Children’s Cabinet for over a decade. As the Past Board Chairman, he strongly believes in the organization’s mission of keeping children safe and families together.

“National Children’s Day is all about honoring children and the importance they bring to our lives, and The Children’s Cabinet delivers critical support and assistance to children in need in our community every day of the year,” said Russell. “I am so proud to have had the opportunity to serve the organization for so many years.”

Additionally, employees at United Construction builds a playhouse and/or doghouse every year to be auctioned off at their Art of Childhood Fundraising Gala. See one of our handcrafted examples above.

We encourage all of our followers to support The Children’s Cabinet on National Children’s Day and beyond. How do you value the children in your life?
