President

As President of United Construction, Mike Whittaker leads with a focus on collaboration, quality, and people. He supports more than 50 project professionals and field leaders across Nevada, ensuring teams have the guidance and resources they need to deliver projects on time, on budget, and with excellence. Mike also oversees United’s day-to-day operations, fostering a culture built on trust, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Mike’s career in construction spans decades and includes leading complex projects across Nevada and California in industrial, government, higher education, hospitality, and specialty markets — with individual project values reaching $90 million. He began his career at United shortly after graduating from California State University, Chico, and returned in 2019 to help guide the company into its next chapter of growth.

His passion for construction started at a young age, driven by a love of building and problem solving. After high school, Mike served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve as a Sergeant for eight years while earning his degree in Construction Management. That blend of discipline, service, and curiosity continues to shape the leader he is today.

Dedicated to advancing the industry, Mike is an active member of the Design-Build Institute of America, American Institute of Constructors, LEAN Construction Institute, Association of General Contractors, and the U.S. Green Building Council. He also holds AIC Professional Construction Certification and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
