As Executive Vice President of United Construction, Michael Russell leverages over 40 years of industry expertise to lead the business development, marketing and communications, design, and preconstruction operations of the company. Renowned for building lasting partnerships and fostering open communication, Michael ensures customers, partners, and employees remain engaged and aligned throughout each project. His leadership is rooted in fairness, professionalism and cultivating a culture of service and truth.
Michael began his tenure at United in 1991 as Director of Preconstruction and Business Development, guiding teams in estimating, purchasing, design management, and strategic marketing. In 1999, he joined Prologis—the world’s premier industrial real estate companies—where he spearheaded platform development across the U.S. and Canada, managed large-scale build-to-suit and fee development projects, and directed site due diligence, acquisitions, industrial park planning, and infrastructure development. Returning to United Construction in 2010, Michael brought a breadth of perspective and unparalleled industry knowledge, helping drive the company’s ongoing growth.
Throughout his career, Michael has made significant contributions across diverse sectors, including industrial, commercial, defense, education, healthcare, aviation, retail, and infrastructure. His track record includes over 50 million square feet of completed facilities and the acquisition and development of more than 25,000 acres of land. Previously holding general and mechanical contractor licenses in Nevada and California, he demonstrates substantial technical proficiency
Beyond the construction sector, Michael is dedicated to community service. He has served for more than 15 years as a board member and former chairman of The Children’s Cabinet, a nonprofit focused on keeping children safe and families together. Michael is also an active member of NAIOP, EDAWN, and IAMC, where he shares his knowledge to strengthen both the industry and his community.
A New Orleans native now residing in Reno with his wife Becky, Michael values time spent with family and friends. He enjoys traveling, skiing, golf, music, and cooking—activities reflecting his commitment to connection, creativity, and a life of purpose.
